The return service, train number 22416, will depart from New Delhi at 3:00 PM and arrive in Banaras at 11:05 PM. This is the second Vande Bharat train in Varanasi, the first one (train-18) was launched in 2018. The train's platform at Cantt station was decorated for the occasion, and large screens were set up for live broadcast of the event. The train was moved from the washing line to the platform at 12:15 PM. The flag-off ceremony was attended by Labor and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar, with the train manager (guard) Rajesh Kumar Verma and the loco pilot Om Prakash Vishwakarma also flagging off the train. 66 children who participated in a quiz, essay, art, and debate competition held on December 14th and 15th were awarded prizes. DRM Dr. Manish Thaplyal, Senior DCM Rekha Sharma, and Senior DSC Ashutosh Pandey of RPF were also present. Schoolchildren were excited to be among the first passengers on the Vande Bharat, with a special halt at Madho Singh station to allow them to disembark after a short ride. Experienced staff, including loco pilots and train managers with over five years of experience, were chosen to operate the train. The train features safety features and amenities like a metro-style announcement system, an intercom system for communication between the loco pilot and the train manager using code words, and an emergency button on the engine. The train is designed to only stop at high-level platforms as it lacks steps for passengers. Passengers who accidentally board the train can inform the train manager through the intercom system but cannot disembark without a stop.
