The police informed the family about the accident and took the body to the mortuary. After a post-mortem on Thursday afternoon, the body was handed over to the family. Akhtar's family, including his wife Mumtaz Begum, son Aferoz, Ashraf, Sabir, and daughter Noor Akhtar, were devastated. They were unable to believe he had died due to a simple accident. Akhtar retired from the railway as a guard in 2019. His family claimed that he was planning to return home early on Wednesday evening but was involved in the accident instead. The family initially held the water board responsible but later declined to file a police report. The police stated that they had not received any complaint from the family.

Ye accident Civil Lines mein Kanpur Road par Chaufatka petrol pump ke paas hua. Police ne family ko incident ki jaankari di aur body ko mortuary mein le gaye. Thursday afternoon mein post-mortem ke baad, body family ko de di gayi. Akhtar ki family, jisme unki wife Mumtaz Begum, bete Aferoz, Ashraf, Sabir, aur beti Noor Akhtar bhi shamil hain, bahut dukhi hue. Unhe ye maan na aaya ki unke sath aisa simple accident kyon hua. Akhtar 2019 mein railway se guard ke post se retire hue the. Unki family ne bataya ki woh Wednesday evening mein jaldi ghar lautne ka plan kar rahe the, lekin is accident mein fas gaye. Family ne pehle jal nigam ko zimmedar banaya, lekin baad mein police report file karne se mana kar diya. Police ne kaha ki unhe family ki taraf se koi shikayat nahi mili hai.
