It doesnt have to be a VB. An intercity express would be fine just fine.
Also you dont realize how many people go to Digha from Bangaon, Habra, Barasat, Madhymgram, Dum Dum and so on.
Also it will give a seamless connectivity to Panskura and ahead from Barasat and Bangaon, removing the hastle of going to Howrah and then by local.

Vande Bharat may be an exaggeration but starting exp trains on Bongaon-Barasat-Dum Dum section is not at all a bad idea. This whole belt has cluster of cities with more than 1lac population. Several intercity type trains can be tried on this section that may fetch good revenue, specially for places like Digha, Tarapith and North Bengal (North Bengal one can be tried via Bongaon-Ranaghat-Nasipur bridge-Malda section)

I am all in for introducing express trains in the Sealdah South section especially since a double line byepass line already exists from Ballygunge to Kankurganchi cabin. I think it is a high time when a long distance train is introduced from areas like Diamond Harbour, Baruipur etc particularly for the Gangasagar Mela crowd, if it can be run right from Kakdwip or Namkhana it would be best !
Keeping the Sealdah South section exclusively a EMU line and occasional freight operations is a disgrace imo ! However for facilitating long distance operations, the busy interchange issue at Ballygunge needs to be resolved, also the tripling of BLN-SPR is a bare minimum requirement

Trains in Sealdah South not happening sooner or ever.
