In Amreli district, the Rajula-Pipavav railway track is a frequent route for goods trains. Over the past months, multiple lion deaths occurred due to train accidents on this track. This prompted the High Court to criticize both the forest and railway departments for their inaction. Due to an increase in lion...

population in Amreli, particularly near the Gir forest and coastal areas, the Rajula-Pipavav region is home to a large number of lions. These lions frequently venturing onto the tracks led to numerous accidents. Following the High Court's criticism, authorities responded by implementing a comprehensive plan to prevent lion deaths on the tracks. This plan involves constant vigilance by forest personnel, the establishment of 12 watch towers along the tracks, and the use of sensor solar lights to alert personnel. When a train approaches, forest staff are informed 15 minutes in advance, allowing them to clear the tracks of any lions. The train speed has also been limited to 40 km/h on this stretch. These combined efforts resulted in the rescue of 46 lions in the month of August alone.

population badh rahi hai, khass kar ke Gir jungle aur saagar kinare ke area me. Rajula-Pipavav region me bahut saare singhon ka basera hai. Ye singhon ka railway track pe aane jane se bahut saare accident ho rahe the. High Court ke jhidata ke baad, authorities ne ek puri plan banaya hai jisse track pe singhon ki maut rokne ki koshish ki ja rahi hai. Is plan me forest staff ka lagatar nazar rakhna, track ke saath 12 watch tower banaana, aur sensor solar lights lagana shamil hai jisse staff ko alert kiya ja sake. Jab koi train aati hai, toh forest staff ko 15 minute pahle bata diya jata hai, isse woh track se koi bhi singhon ko door kar sake. Train ki speed bhi is route pe 40 km/h tak limit kar di gayi hai. In sab efforts se sirf August maheene me hi 46 singhon ki jaan bachaayi gayi hai.
