The proposed sleeper Vande Bharat Express train between Patna and New Delhi will have a stop at Kanpur Central, offering Kanpur residents their first sleeper Vande Bharat service. The Railway Minister had recently inspected the sleeper Vande Bharat Express coaches and expressed satisfaction with them. There are also plans to convert the coaches of Shatabdi and Rajdhani Express trains running through Kanpur into Vande Bharat Express coaches, as the latter offer more amenities and safety features. The original plan was to have the Delhi-Patna via Kanpur sleeper Vande Bharat Express pass through Govindpuri, but due to safety and security concerns, the decision was made to have the train operate through Kanpur Central instead.
